New Year's resolutions for you and your dog…

It never fails that each year sees people making tons of resolutions, determining to get in shape, kick bad habits, instill better ones on a daily basis, be more loving, or any other positive change they can dream of. Of course, it’s also known that most people give up on their resolutions by the end of January of the new year! But there is a great way to give yourself a better chance of sticking to your goals:

Get your dog(s) involved!

Resolutions for pups? You bet! After all, even dogs can benefit from good habits such as staying active or eating healthy, and they’re prime examples of how we humans can be more loving and joyful, even in trying circumstances.

So what are some resolutions you and your pups can work on together? Here are some fun examples:

  • Measure your food – Plenty of people use this trick in their own meals, but you can use it for your pups too! To keep your dogs healthy, use portion control so they don’t overeat and hurt their ability to be active (Fortunately, since Variety Pet Food already comes pre-measured, it’s easier than ever to keep track of how much you’re doling out.).
  • Try a new activity with your pet – Is there a local hiking trail you haven’t tried with your dogs yet? Give it a whirl in 2014 and share your photos and stories afterwards!
  • More playtime! – Dogs seem to have boundless energy at times, so why not give them (and yourselves) a bit more time to relax and play each day?
  • Set a vet appointment – It can be easy to let trips to the vet slide, but they’re essential to staying on top of possible health issues that would negatively affect your pup. Set a date today and stick to it so your pup can be healthy and happy all year long.

Do you or your dogs have any resolutions? Share them with us and then check in during 2014 to let us know how things are progressing!
