Planning a summer vacation and want to take your pup along for the fun? Make the trip easier on everyone by taking the time to prepare for it with your dog in mind. Check out this advice on traveling with a pup in tow:
- Make sure you have enough food to last the whole trip. Keeping a dog’s diet consistent is important for their health, and if you suddenly switch up their meal content, it can lead to them getting sick. (Hint: Take plenty of Mixable packets or VPF’s canned Homestyle meals!)
- Research your destinations and make sure there’s a reputable local vet near where you’ll be. You don’t want to go in expecting injury or illness, but if the worst case situation does happen and Fido needs medical attention, knowing it’s available will give you some peace of mind.
- Do you travel plans involve flying somewhere? Check out your chosen airline’s pet guidelines and requirements to make sure you don’t forget anything important.
- Make sure you bring along any legal pet documents, such as registration, identification, or medical files.
So, where will you and your pups be traveling this summer? Don’t forget to take plenty of photos (and perhaps share a few on our Facebook page)!
